naked trees in central park

How glorious these trees seem to me

They stand tall, naked, reaching for the heavens
Yet they have nothing to show except their true selves
No decors, no colors, nor lights, nor trimmings

They hold their branches up high, leafless as they may be
Proudly stretching everything, up to the last branch
Doing their best to shade those who are no greater than them

It's trivial
To see something so powerful be stripped off its glory
And watch it protect the small
